Durban Website Design is the website design company of, and is affiliated with, Squirrel Media. In this policy “we”, “us” and “our” mean Durban Website Design and Squirrel Media. We are the Responsible Party, as defined in POPIA, for the personal information described here.

This policy covers this website (durbanwebsitedesign.co.za) and our website design, development, maintenance and Rent-a-Website services. Hosting, email and domain services are provided by Squirrel Media and are covered by Squirrel Media’s Privacy Policy. This policy forms part of our Terms and Conditions.

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when it last changed. Continued use of our website or services after a change means you accept the updated policy.

4.1 When you contact us

Our contact form asks for your name, email address, contact number, what you are interested in (for example a website rental package and how you would like to pay, the kind of website you need, or your existing website’s domain), your message, how you heard about us and, if you choose, a friend’s name. If you phone or email us, we receive the details you give us.

4.2 When you become a client

To design, build and bill for your website we may also need your business details, billing details and the content you supply for your website (text, images, logos).

4.3 Web server logs

Like every website, our web server records technical data such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested. The contact form also records the IP address and time of each enquiry, to prevent spam and abuse.

This website uses no analytics or advertising cookies. The contact form sets one strictly necessary session cookie, which protects the form against forged submissions and is deleted when you close your browser. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the contact form may then not work, and you can phone or email us instead.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for automated profiling or advertising.

• Squirrel Media, which provides the hosting, email, domains and billing for our services.
• Service providers who help us run our business (for example payment gateways, domain registries and our email provider), only as needed to provide the service.
• Regulators, courts or law enforcement where the law requires it.

This website is served only over HTTPS. The contact form checks every enquiry on our server and emails it directly to us; enquiries are not stored in a database on the website. Only authorised people who need it to do their work can access your information. Where we become aware of a security compromise affecting your personal information, we will notify you and the Information Regulator as POPIA requires.

We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes above, unless the law requires us to keep it longer (for example tax and accounting records) or you agree to a longer period.

Under POPIA you may ask whether we hold personal information about you and request a copy, ask us to correct or delete it, object to its processing, and lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (South Africa) at inforegulator.org.za. We may need to confirm your identity before acting on a request.
